Following long-term injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca admitted that January additions may be needed.
There had been speculation that a low-cost option could come by recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace.
Chalobah has impressed under Oliver Glasner and ineligible to compete against his parent club today, will be considered a big miss for the Eagles.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that there is no option for Chelsea to recall Chalobah from his loan this season. He will see out the campaign with Palace.
